David, a native of Longview joined Gans & Smith in 1985 after starting his career as a claims adjuster with Sentry Insurance. David's background in claims and understanding his clients' needs made him a successful agent. He was named a Partner and Vice President at Gans & Smith in 1988 and President in 2012. David recently received the 2012 Chairman Award from the Longview Chamber of Commerce for his selfless and faithful contributions to the Chamber and the City of Longview. In 1993 David was named Independent Agents of Texas Young Agent of the Year. David has served on several companies agent panels. In 1996 David earned the designation Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) and continues his education through annual conferences and seminars. David has dedicated himself to his profession and making Longview / East Texas a better place. David was Mayor of Longview, served 2 terms on City Council, Longview Partnership Chairman, Past President of Independent Insurance Agents of Longview, served on Independent Insurance Agents of Texas Board of Directors, coached League Baseball for over 30 years and League Soccer for 9 years. David is married to Susan and they have one son William. David enjoys travel, golf, and spending time with his family.
Kirk, returned to Longview in 1992 after graduating from Texas Tech University. Kirk began his Insurance Career in 2009 and joined Gans & Smith in 2012. He is active in the Longview community, as a member of First Methodist Church-Longview, Co-chair of the annual Friends of Asbury House Golf Tournament, active volunteer at the House of Disciples and Longview Chamber of Commerce. Kirk also coached youth baseball and youth soccer. Kirk is married to Lynne and they have 2 daughters. Kirk enjoys outdoor activities including golf, running, biking and all of the activities his family is involved with.
Laura was raised in Henderson and began her insurance career in 1999 where she worked for a local captive agency in town. In 2001, Laura was hired by CFG Insurance to work in sales as a personal lines agent. She also earned the Society of Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR) in both personal and commercial insurance in 2008. Laura is a full service agent, however all lines of personal insurance as well as life insurance are her focus.
Laura is married to Keith Isaac and they have 2 daughters. In her spare time she enjoys traveling with her husband, spending time with her family and friends, and watching as many Dallas Cowboy games as she can in the season.
Angela, a Louisianan hailing from Lake Charles, moved to Henderson in 2013. Starting her insurance career in 2006 as a receptionist, she quickly moved into the role of an agent in a matter of a few short weeks. Although she has had her hand in many other pots throughout the years ranging from babysitting, assistant manager in the food industry, retail sales, assistant manager for an RV park, to being a prison guard, she has now returned back to the scene of the crime and joined CFG Insurance in August 2017. In her spare time, she loves spending time with her family, shopping, and prides herself on being a nap aficionado.
Born and raised in Henderson, Chrissy joined the insurance world in 2011 as a receptionist for a neighboring agency. After obtaining her license a few years ago, she moved up to a personal lines agent and transferred to our agency in May of 2017. Besides her work here at the agency, Chrissy works at staying involved with the community. She wears many hats such as being the Treasurer of the Rusk County Recreation Center and being the director of her church’s children’s ministry. Additionally, when she is away from the office, you can find her cheering for her son in his engagement of football, baseball, and gymnastics. She and her husband, Frank, take pride in their family so much so that they are beside themselves with joy as they have been set apart to foster a beautiful baby girl. When asked what she does with her spare time, she replied, “What’s that?” She then went on to state that she loves cooking for her loved ones, and has been known to share a mason jar or two of her famous salsa.
Julie McElroy began her insurance career in 1997 when the bank started the agency as HCB Insurance Agency. She was a Personal Lines CSR from 1997 until she was transferred to Accounting in 2007. She has earned the Accredited Customer service representative designation in personal lines insurance. She is a member of Still Waters Cowboy Church. Julie has one son, two daughters and eight grandchildren. In her spare time she loves kayaking and camping with family and friends.
A native of East Texas, Marsha started her business career in the financial industry. She studied and worked her way up to senior management for a major banking corporation in Dallas where her passion for quality and customer service was utilized. After 22 years, her husband’s hardwood lumber business to hold the operations manager position. In a move from Dallas, back to East Texas, Marsha enjoyed being part of the Tyler Executive Women’s Network as secretary. The hardwood lumber game, still in play, Marsha moved to join CFG Insurance in 2012. At CFG, Health Insurance quickly became her driving force to achieve her Employee Benefits Certification from the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas. Marsha is an active member of the East Texas Association of Health Underwriters.
Marsha and her husband, Tom, live on Lake Palestine where they have given time and effort to Chamber, POA, City Council, Lake Palestine Council, and Little League Baseball in their tiny community. Marsha and Tom have three children and five grandchildren. Marsha enjoys time with family, friends, and playing with her dachshunds and turtles. Marsha is active in lake and boating activities and any outdoor activities which include hiking and canoeing when visiting their small woodland cabin.
With 30+ years of experience in the Life and Health industry, Judith contracted with CFG in 2008 as an Independent Agent. She was one of the first Agents in East Texas to take a Certification course on the Affordable Care Act to be able to assist Individuals and Groups with its many complexities and continues to maintain a rigorous study regimen in order to keep her clients up to date and assist them with the ongoing changes common in all aspects of this industry. She is a repeat qualifier of the prestigious Leading Producer’s Round Table through the National Association of Health Underwriters and is active in the local chapter of the East Texas Association of Health Underwriters, serving on the Board of this organization as Secretary for 3 years, President-Elect and President. Judith was also asked to serve on the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas Life and Health Advisory Board for 3 years and obtained her certification as an Employee Benefits Academy Adviser from this organization.
Judith utilizes a consultative approach with her clients – listening to their goals, concerns and challenges, and then putting together a proposal that meets their objectives. She is known among her peers as an agent who doesn’t always follow the “business as usual” methods, but constantly seeks new ideas and innovative products in order to achieve the objectives that are important to her clients. Success means helping a group client help their employees, while keeping their costs within reason; assisting the elderly as they make the transition to Medicare; and helping those individuals who don’t have health insurance available through an employer. She particularly enjoys working with clients who need someone to help them plan for their future Life, Health, Disability and Long Term Care needs. When asked how long she plans to work, she quickly responds, “Whenever that still, small voice inside tells me that I’ve helped as many people as I can and it’s now time to retire.”
When she isn’t working (which is rare), she enjoys writing and has been published in local publications as well as Chicken Soup for the Singles Soul. She especially enjoys spending time with her husband of 40+ years, her daughters and her “grand-dogs” as well as reading, needlework and crochet. Nothing brings her more joy than having her family and friends over for an informal meal and fellowship and of course, cheering on the Cowboys during football season!
Cecilia Besson began her career in the insurance business at CFG Insurance in 2002. She obtained her Certified Insurance Counselor designation in 2016. Cecilia is a Commercial Account Manager at CFG Insurance. Cecilia is married to Brian and they have 2 teenage sons. She is actively involved in her church’s youth group and with her boys in all their activities. Cecilia enjoys cooking and being outside with her family kayaking, fishing and camping.
Erin, a native of Henderson, began her insurance career with CFG Insurance in 2013. A transfer from Citizens National Bank, she started as the receptionist and was promoted to commercial customer service representative in 2015. Being classified as the designated helper, Erin helps anyone in the office with tasks such as new receptionist training to computer related issues. Erin has obtained her Texas Independent Insurance Advisor designation with an emphasis on Commercial through IIAT’s (Independent Insurance Agent of Texas) program. A veteran to the local civic theatre, she has been involved with numerous productions (at last count it was over fifteen). She has acted as assistant director, stage manager, lights/sound, and as an actress. Her favorite involvements include the musicals Little Shop of Horrors, Godspell, and her most recent Nunsense. Besides insurance and theatre, Erin spends her time at her home in Tyler with her loving husband David, and their mini Australian Shepherd, Beasley.
My name is Cheyenne Sanchez. I am a Henderson Native. I graduated from Tyler Junior College. I joined CFG Insurance as the administrative assistant in July 2017. One of the things I have found myself enjoying the most, is the constant changes of work in my position. I get to do a little bit of everything. When I am on my own time I am always with family or friends. I love the outdoors and riding around with my grandpa.
